Texas Rangers Heritage Center
On twelve acres of land on the outskirts of historic Fredericksburg, Texas, the role the Texas Rangers have played in Texas legend and lore is being preserved and is becoming a living part of the present.
The Heritage Center includes our Campanile, or bell tower, standing apart as a Beacon for Learning, a Salute to Good Citizenship, and along with the Ranger Ring of Honor, a Soaring Memorial, dedicated to those who gave all in their service to the Texas Rangers and to the Citizens of Texas.
Within the 12-acre-campus you will find the covered 350-seat LoneStar Open-Air Pavilion complete with Amphitheater, Campfire Circle and a full catering kitchen. Coming soon, our main building will house the story of the history, heritage, and culture of the Texas Rangers in an immersive and engaging world-class exhibit. Of course, the Heritage Center will also be the focal and backdrop that supports our Lone Star Ranger Academy.

Enchanted Rock State Natural Area
Climb the ancient dome for amazing Hill Country views. The massive pink granite dome rising above Central Texas has drawn people for thousands of years. But there’s more at Enchanted Rock State Natural Area than just the dome. The scenery, rock formations, and legends are magical, too! You can hike, backpack, camp, rock climb, picnic, bird, study nature, geocache and stargaze. Explore nearly 11 miles of hiking trails. All trails close 30 minutes after sunset, except the Loop Trail. The Summit Trail may close in wet weather. Rock climbers must check in at park headquarters. You can pick up route maps there and read the climbing rules.

Great sites to stop at sites along the way include the President’s birthplace, the Johnson family cemetery, and Johnson’s ranch house, also known as the Texas White House. Take ranger-guided tours of the Texas White House daily.

Whether you call them Fredericksburg or Stonewall peaches there is nothing like biting into a sweet and juicy peach! One picked fresh from one of our local orchards and we have lots of orchards here in Gillespie County. Gillespie County is the largest peach-producing county in Texas. About 40 percent of the state’s annual commercial peach production comes from Gillespie County.
